2003 IBA of
San Diego Golf Tournament
Dear member:
The date for our annual golf tournament is set for
Friday, September 5th. We are playing at Carlton Oaks
Golf Course this year, a Dye-designed course located
just east of Mission Trails Park in Santee. From the
black tees this course plays to nearly 7100 yards,
and for years had the highest course rating in San
Diego County. Phil Mickelson calls the 18th hole “the
best finishing hole in San Diego”, and those
of you who have stared at that 170 yard shot over
water and into the wind would agree with him. Although
we will be playing from the much more manageable white
tees, the course’s challenging greens, numerous
fairway and greenside bunkers and water hazards should
provide for a competitive event. I don’t know
that there are any 58’s to be had as there were
at Cottonwood!

With the change in venue, we are expecting close to
a full field of 144 golfers, and I am hoping that
you will be one of them.
The format for the tournament will be
again be a four-person scramble, so players of all
abilities are welcome. You can either sign up a foursome
or sign up individually.
Following golf, there will be a dinner
and no-host bar in the clubhouse. Prizes will be awarded
for closest to the pin on all par 3’s, longest
drive for men and women, highest gross score and the
5 low gross scores. There will also be a raffle with
some great prizes.
For those of you coming in from out
of town, Carlton Oaks has offered discounted room
rates at their lodge adjacent to the clubhouse. Please
contact Rex Cole, Head Professional and general manager
of Carlton Oaks, for room reservations only. Make
sure you tell him you’re playing in the IBA
of San Diego golf tournament.

We wanto to thank all those
who attended IDAY. The turnout was great. We appreciate
all the sponsors, vendors and continuing education teachers.
Tony Gwynn only added to his stature and our enjoyment.
We are looking to improve next year's program with more
for the personal lines agents. We look forward to another
great program.
