COMMITTEE
REPORT
IBA San Diego would like to thank all
the people who came out and supported this years'
I Day. Again, without the strong support of its associate
members, we couldn't make it happen. A BIG THANK YOU
to all the sponsors and volunteers who gave their
time and money towards this event. Until next year.

— Steve Coviello, Committee
Chairperson
Committee Report: We are getting started on this years'
golf tournament and expect it to be a great time as
was last years' event!! We are scheduled for a return
to the Carlton Oaks Country Club with a date set of
October 1, 2004. Please be sure to put it on your
calendars and we will be contacting you soon with
additional information.
— Steve Shea, Committee Chairperson
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE My Fellow Members,
If your participation in I Day didn’t make you
proud to be a part of this association, I don’t
know what could!!! From the new faces I got to know
at the President’s Reception the night before
I Day, to the many old friends I was able to see and
visit with on I Day, it only solidified my belief in
this association and its value, both financially in
the political advocacy arena, as well as personally
with the many friends I have come to know through this
association. I thank you for your support!
I want to congratulate the award winners at this years’
luncheon. Mr. Larry Shea for the prestigious Andrew
H. Ekern Award, Mr. Bob Fleischman, for Agent of the
Year, Monarch E & S for their grand support and
winner of Associate Member of the Year, and Lynn Ross
from Golden Eagle Insurance Corporation for the award
of Company Professional of the Year, and Insurance Woman
of the Year, Anita Johnson.
I again plead for our membership’s support for
the IBA West’s California Advocacy Fund. It doesn’t
take a rocket scientist to understand the need each
of us has in what our lobbyist are trying to do on our
behalf to keep unfavorable legislation from taking place.
It’s going to get in your pocket one way or the
other. Better now than later when we have no control
what so ever! The local association has already contributed
$1000.00 to this fund on behalf of the entire association,
but much more money is needed. If you have not already
contributed, please do so.
Put the golf tournament on your calendars for October
1st. We are also planning an August general meeting
that we feel will be a real topical program regarding
the Workers Compensation Reform and its affect.
Until next time!
— Gayle Bailey, IBA San Diego President

WARM BODIES WANTED!!!!! IBA San Diego has
three board member positions that will be
vacant in 2005. We need willing and able
persons in the industry to fill these board
positions. If you are interested in becoming
more involved in your association, please
contact Lori at the IBA San Diego office,
NOW!!
Be sure to mark your calendars for our general
membership meeting on August 18 as well
as our annual Golf Tournament on October
1 at the Carlton Oaks Country Club.
WE NEED YOUR INPUT!! The
board is asking that its members respond
to our inquiry whether “Continuing
Education” is a benefit they would
like to see brought back to San Diego. Due
to lack of response, IBA San Diego has not
provided any CE classes in the past few
years. Would it be of use if we brought
it back?????
Please e-mail Lori your response at lori@ibasandiego.com
