venue as last year, the Carlton Oaks Golf Resort on
the 1st of October. If you have not already signed
up for this event, please do so as space is limited.
Our Grand Raffle Prize this year is a new set of Taylor
Made RAC Irons. This could be an early Christmas Gift
for some lucky person!! Sponsorships are still available,
but, those too, are filling up fast. Contact Lori
at the IBA office or me for any additional information.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Kids are back in school
(whew!), summer is all but over, and the November elections
are just starting to really heat up. We're in for an
exciting fall.
Did you know that there are lobbyists actively seeking
to reform the way insurance agents receive compensation?
The commission based compensation system is in jeapordy
and you need to stand ready to fight this legislation.
This is one way in which your contributions to the California
Advocacy Fund is working for you. IBA West exec's are
going to be here in November and this topic will just
be one of many that they want to share with us to keep
us aware of what's happening in Sacramento. IBA West
is again asking for your help. They have already made
considerable progress with the additional monies raised,
but more is needed to continue the fight.
To all our member insurance carriers, the California
Advocacy Fund and the lobbying efforts of IBA West help
your cause as well. Capital Insurance Group has already
stepped up to the plate and has matched up to $40,000.00
for this fund on behalf of those CIG agents that contributed
separately. We ask that all the rest of our member companies
supporting the independant agency system come forward
and contribute!!
I look forward to seeing you at the annual golf tournament
on the 1st of October. The change to Carlton Oaks was
a good one last year and we look forward to another
fun tournament! See you there!!
Until next time,
— Gayle Bailey, IBA San Diego President

IBA West and their lobbyists are working
hard on your behalf to fight unfavorable
legislation. They are planning to meet with
all members during a two week period in
November and have scheduled a San Diego
visit on the 17th of November. THEY WANT
YOUR FEEDBACK!! Topics to be covered are
sensitive and of the confidential nature,
thus, regular members only please!! Principals,
put this on your calendar now and save this
date. This is what your annual dues are
doing for you!! We will be getting back
to you with more specific information on
this important meeting.
At our Annual Meeting of the IBA San DIego
held August 18th, 2004, we elected into
office the following slate of officers for
the 2005 term:
Past President - Gayle Bailey
President - Brad Wilson
President Elect - Steve Shea
Sec-Treas - Vacant
Board of Directors: John Toon, Judy King,
