COMMITTEE REPORT

2003 IBA of San Diego Golf Tournament

The 2003 IBA San Diego golf tournament was a huge success. Although it was probably the hottest day of the year in east county, I heard a lot of positive feedback on the golf course, the food, and the raffle prizes. We were nearly full to capacity with 125 golfers, and all of our sponsorships were sold out. I would like to personally thank all of our sponsors for so graciously supporting the local agent's association, especially Monarch E&S, our grand sponsor. Without the support of our sponsors, this tournament would never get off the ground, let alone be as successful as it is. And I would also like to thank Lori Fentress, the Executive Director of IBA San Diego and Gayle Bailey, President-elect of IBA San Diego (and chair of this tournament for the past 4 years!), for all of their help in organizing the tournament. And thanks to everyone who either bought or brought raffle prizes.

The fund raiser for the Independent Insurance Agent Junior Classic (IIAJC) was also successful. Roger McCollum and his team were able to raise nearly $800 for the cause, which will go directly to defraying the entry fees for San Diego-based junior golfers that wish to qualify for the national tournament.

Next year's tournament is scheduled for October 1st at Carlton Oaks. It's going to be even better than this year's tournament, so I hope to see you all again next year. Again, on behalf of the tournament committee and the entire board of directors of IBA San Diego, thank you.

Ihope you all have read President nakashima's message in our weekly update stressing that we have to have a seat at the table in future negotiations on our substantive issues. To get that seat we have to build up our presence with money. We should all get behind the fund raising when the call comes and it will be soon. Your local association will be making a donation too.
